Entry into Egypt

Before proceeding to the lineup of the airport passport control, those who still require an entry visa (see note below) must go directly to one of the Bank kiosks to purchase the visa stamps, which you must then attach to the passport.

Information for those travelling by train

If you are taking a train from Cairo to Luxor, please proceed through the main entrance of the Cairo central train station. Walk directly through the station, keep straight, walking past the ticket booth for "Lower-Egypt", exit the central building through the opposite side you entered, and walk down the stairways to your immediate left. Walk through the short passageway and climb the stairs. Enter the building in front of you and proceed to the ticket booth to the right.

Remember... the post-conference tour starts from Luxor on the morning of the 26th and finishes on the morning of the 28th in Aswan. Participants who are taking part in the post-conference tour should make sure that their flights are arranged correctly, we do not arrange transportation from Aswan back to Luxor.

Also... for those participants transiting between Cairo and Luxor, please remember to claim and re-checkin your luggage between flights. For more information, please consult "practical advice".

The conference will be held in Luxor, situated in the south of Egypt. Luxor can be reached by airplane or by train from Cairo or from Aswan. Egypt Air and many other airliners operate direct flights from major cities around the world to Luxor or to Aswan. The flight from Cairo is about 45-60 min. The train ride is about 12 hours from Cairo and about 1.5 - 2.5 hours from Aswan.

It is strongly recommended to take a flight from Cairo as it is both inexpensive and convenient.
