Prof. Adem Levent Demirel

A. Levent Demirel is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Koç University, Istanbul, Turkey. He received his B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Physics from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1989, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Physics from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA, in 1991 and 1996, respectively. After post-doctoral work at FOM-Atomic & Molecular Physics Institute in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, he joined Koç University Chemistry Department in 1997. He received Turkish Scientific & Technical Research Council's Young Scientist Award in 1999, Turkish Academy of Science's Young Scientist Award in 2001 and Koc University Werner von Siemens Excellence Award in 2003. His research interests in the area of surface physical chemistry include nano-structured materials, thin films and surfaces.
