Dr. Gianluca Savini

Gianluca Savini received his Master Degree in Physics at the University of Bologna in 2001 (Italy). Soon after, he was research visitor in the Department of Physics at the University of Modena (Italy). Following a years of CNR Research Fellowship, he started a Ph.D at the CNR-IMM in Bologna (2003). He held two Marco Polo Fellowships spending time as research visitor at the University of Sussex (2004, 2005). In 2005 he became Research Fellow at the University of Sussex joining the Theoretical Chemistry-Computational Group. His activity includes supervision of project students and some teaching. Current research is focused on dislocation dynamic and elastic theory in semiconductor and carbon materials. Methods used include Density Functional calculations and Molecular Dynamics simulation. He is a member of the British Carbon Group and Institute of Physics.
