Prof. Marcel De Cuyper

Marcel De Cuyper received his PhD at the universty of Leuven (Belgium) in 1973. At present he is full professor in organic chemistry, biophysics and cell biology at the faculties of Sciences and Medicine (KULeuven-Campus Kortrijk). His scientific work mainly focuses on the structure and the dynamics of artificial membrane models, as well as their interaction with biological cells. He is the founding father of so-called magnetoliposomes which are presently used worldwide in a lot of biotechnological and biomedical applications. Between 1994 and 2000 he was director of the Interdisciplinary Research Center (KULeuven-Kortrijk).
