Prof. Tharwat Tadros

After obtaining his Ph.D. at Alexandria University Prof. Tadros became a lecturer in Physical Chemistry at Alexandria University (1962-1966). Between 1966 and 1969 he spent a Sabbatical in the Netherlands carrying out research in the field of Colloid and Interface Science and Electrochemistry. In 1969, Prof. Tadros joined ICI to lead a group in Colloid and Interface Science and was awarded the highest Scientific Job (Senior Research Associate) in the Company. In the meantime he was appointed Visiting Professor at Imperial College London, Bristol University and Reading University. Prof. Tadros has supervised many Ph.D. students and Postdoctoral Fellows both at the Universities and in ICI. He was elected President of the International Association of Colloid Scientist and has published over 250 papers in Scientific Journals. He became Editor-in-Chief for Colloids and Surfaces as well as Advances Colloid and Interface Science. Due to his outstanding research he was awarded two medals from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Additionally, Prof. Tadros has edited several books on polymer adsorption and Colloid Stability, on Surfactants, Solid/liquid Dispersions, etc. He has written two books on Surfactants in Agrochemicals (1994) and Applied Surfactants (2005). At present Prof. Tadros is editing several volumes on a Series of Colloid and Interface Science. The first two volumes will appear in 2006.
